Facebook The New Hub of Advertisers Brought $2 Million In Sales In 2010

Financial news site Bloomberg reported Thursday that the world's largest social network is expected to more than double its 2009 sales figures, which reportedly came in between $700 million and $800 million. Citing unnamed sources, Bloomberg also reported that Facebook executives were only expecting to bring in $1.5 billion in sales this year but exceeded those expectations by half a billion dollars.

According to Bloomberg " Facebook is the most attractive advertisers hub for the famous brands like Coca-Cola, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Adidas. This because at present Facebook has 550 million smiling users & it's increasing in a alarming speed.
The CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg was named Time's Person of the Year this week & Facebook also named as the best place to work by the users.

As far as I concern Facebook is great Networking site but some of it's terms & condition are worthless or you can say to harass the user. So many restriction to the users than what is the use of such networking site where user is not free & don't trust the site. I think Facebook must need to workout in this field because if you not please your user than dark future is ahead & that day is not far when people will say no to Facebook, you don't know when & how life will surprise you. what ever draw back Facebook has but you can't dare to avoid it because east the west Facebook is the best.

Now any one can get a unique email id @facebook.com for sending and receiving email from friends and family. This email service actually focuses on sender and receiver. There are no usual email elements like subject lines, cc and bcc as found in popular email service providers like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Live Hotmail. Facebook owners are in trouble

Pakistani police filed a case against the owner of social networking site Facebook including an American women for publishing a photo of Prophet Mohammad on charges of offending. A senior law ministry official filed the case to the Lahore High Court reported hearing.

In Lahore a case has filed under Section 295 C. against the American woman & Facebook owners for insulting Prophet & Islam. Already a non-governmental organization "Islamic Movement of Lawyers' was filed a petition in the Lahore High Court which said that Prophet Mohammad was insulted on Facebook so that facebook should be banned in Pakistan.

After this court May 19, 2010 the government ordered that Facebook be banned. A June government had removed the ban on Facebook. Mohammed Azhar told the BBC that the petitioner in the trial of the three owners Facebook Maorka Elliot, Deasston Maugskof and Zekharberg and includes a woman named Andy.

The court ordered the government to monitor the website system to be streamlined so that in future such cases can not be take place. Telecommunication Union Ministry official told the court that the government has formulated a policy under which no one able able to insult Prophet Mohammad & Islam on internet.

Facebook is the most popular targets for phishers, hackers and scammers. According to the Associated Press, however, Facebook is in the process of rolling out some new security features that will protect its users from malicious attacks, spam and phishing scams. For a while now, Facebook already offered users the ability to be notified when an account was accessed from a computer or device they hadn't used before. Now, Facebook will also alert users of unusual activity on their accounts and allow users to register their devices with Facebook.
Update: Facebook just confirmed these new security updates on its blog. We have updated this post with more information.
Suspicious Logins:-
If somebody tries to access your account from the other side of the world, for example, Facebook will now notify you that something is amiss with your account and add an additional layer of authorization to the log-in process. According to Facebook, these additional verification methods could include asking for a your birth date (you did enter your real birth date on Facebook, didn't you?) or asking you to identify a friend in a picture and answering a standard security questions if you previously provided one. REGISTERED DEVICE:-
Users will now also be able to register their computers and other devices they use to access Facebook. Whenever somebody tries to log in from a device you haven't registered yet, Facebook will prompt them to name the device and send you an email. You can also choose to get SMS alerts as well.

These updates come just a few days after Jim Breyer, one of Facebook's own board members, fell for a phishing scam on the popular social networking site. Today's updates aren't likely to prevent these phishing scams, though it's good to see that Facebook is introducing additional security features.
Given the amount of negative publicity Facebook has been getting over its privacy policies and bewildering privacy settings, it only makes sense for Facebook to garner some good press by emphasizing these new security features now. On the other hand, those users who are already nervous about Facebook's own privacy issues aren't likely to be persuaded by this.

THE WORLD IS CELEBRATING "Quit Facebook Day"

The controversy broke out around the world Facebook's latest changes to its privacy policy--which is now longer than the Constitution and offers some 50 settings and over 170 options--users' interest in deleting their Facebook accounts has soared.

A group of unsatisfied Facebook users have teamed up in an effort to organize a mass, coordinated exodus from Facebook--and they're using social networks to do it.

Their site, QuitFacebookDay.com, asks users to "commit to quit" Facebook on May 31 by signing their name or Twitter handle to the list of pledges.

The cause has attracted several hundred pledges--about 780 at the time of writing.

There's also a Facebook Page devoted to the planned exit.

"If you agree that Facebook doesn't respect you, your personal data or the future of the Web, you may want to join us," QuitFacebookDay.com explains.

For those who oppose Facebook's new privacy policy, but find "Quit Facebook Day" too extreme, there is an alternative that doesn't require immediately letting go of Facebook-based online social connections, photos or videos.
Facebook Protest seeks to challenge Facebook's recent push for more openness by proposing a boycott of Facebook services on June 6.

"Facebook's real customer is the advertisers that they work with: NOT YOU," Facebook Protest's official statement reads. The soon-to-be protesters also ask participants to:

commit to not logging in or interacting with Facebook in any way. Be sure to log out of Facebook in all of your browsers no later than the evening of June 5th. On the 6th, be sure to not use Facebook connect or click any "Like" buttons: basically refrain from ALL Facebook related activity.

The movement already has a following on Twitter (@FacebookProtest), and even has its own Facebook Event page.
