Harddisc clean up with WinDirStat (WDS)

Harddiscs are going in Terrabyte. That’s a lot of space to track! While it’s a boon because now you can save every mp3 songs, pictures downloaded, you must now have to manage lots of data. Fail at that and finding what you need can be difficult. Imagine having to look for Katrina’s pic at the height of your need? And you can’t? You must prune that disc and keep it tidy. That’s where WinDirStat comes in.

So, have you ever catalogued a folder by file size, praying to track down a data piled up, only to be complained by the fact that Windows 7 doesn’t let you see the size of nested folders’ contents? Right. So have we, and that’s why we make sure that we’ve always got WinDirStat on standby.

WinDirStat, short for Windows Directory Statistics, is an application which analyzes the composition of your hard drive, empowering you to discover which files are gobbling up your disk space. It presents this information in a size-ordered directory view, or as a colorful treemap, making it a piece of cake to see exactly what is using up your hard drive space. Once you’ve figured out which files are taking up more than their fair share of your drive, you can get rid of them with WinDirStat’s built-in cleanup operations.

Discover your hardisc with Windirstat and the next time you need your favourite mp3 song or Katrina’s pic, you’ll never be lost again.

  1. It is very nice utility for discovering the harddisk and where your spaces are consumed. It is just clone of KdirStat which meant for Linux and Unix platforms. I have tried this very much satisfied with its performance. Only thing is about is, doesn't run on window 7 operating system.
